Library Explorer: Common Tasks
Menus & Toolbar
Many of the Library Explorer's features are available from the Main Window Menu. For example, to create a new Scenario you can go to the Scenario menu and click New. Common features are also available from the Main Window Toolbar.
Alternatively, you may find it more convenient to use the Library Explorer's Context Menu. To open the Context Menu, right-click on any item in the Library Explorer tree. Note, however, that the Context Menu's items depend on the node you have selected in the Library Explorer. For example, the Context Menu for a Library item will not have the same items as the Context Menu for a Scenario item.
Creating Objects
You can create an unlimited number of Folders, Projects, and Scenarios in the Library Explorer. These objects can be created at any level in the tree using the Main Window Menu or the Context Menu. For example, to create a new Folder using the Context Menu, right-click on a Library node and choose Folder... from the New menu.
Deleting Objects
You can delete any Folder, Project, or Scenario as long as it is not Read-Only. To delete an object, right-click on its node and choose Delete.
Warning
Deleting an object will also delete all of its child objects.
Copying Objects
You can copy-and-paste Folders, Projects, and Scenarios in the Library Explorer. For example, to copy a Scenario, right-click on its node and choose Copy. Then, right-click on a "target" node and choose Paste.
Important
Although you can choose any target node, not all target nodes are valid for a paste operation. For example, if you copy a Folder that contains a Project you cannot paste that Folder as a child of another Project. In this case, the next valid paste target will be automatically selected for you.
Tip
You can also copy these objects using drag-and-drop. For example, to make a drag-drop copy of a Scenario, hold the CTRL key down and it to a new target node.
You can further control the paste operation by using the Paste Special option from the Edit menu:
Using this screen you can choose which types of child objects to paste. For example, if you copy a Folder and you want to only paste the Projects it contains (i.e. not the Scenarios or Folders) then you would choose Paste Special instead of Paste and uncheck "Folders" and "Scenarios".
Another option you can select in the Paste Special dialog is Flatten scenario dependencies. Choosing this option will copy the data from a Scenario's Dependencies directly into the root of the new Scenario.
Moving Objects
Objects can also be moved to a new location in the Library Explorer tree. To move an object, select its node with the mouse and drag it to its new parent node.
Important
Some objects cannot be moved to a new parent. For example, a Scenario can not be moved to a different Project, and objects can never be moved to another Library.
Editing Properties
You can edit the Properties for any Library, Project, or Scenario. To edit the Properties for one of these objects, right-click its node and choose Properties.
Remarks
Many Library Explorer features are available for multiple Scenarios at the same time. For example, you can delete multiple Scenarios by highlighting them all and then clicking Delete from the context menu. To highlight multiple Library Explorer objects, hold the CTRL key down and click their nodes with the mouse.
Tip
You can also highlight a range of objects by holding the SHIFT key down and clicking the top and bottom nodes for the range you want.
