About the Active Project
As mentioned in the Analyzing Results Overview, the tools available in the Results Explorer are model dependent. This means, for example, that when you open a "Sample Sales" Library in the Library Explorer, the Results Explorer will not show the same tools as it does when you open an ST-Sim Library.
However, the Library Explorer lets you open multiple Libraries for different types of models at the same time. So, if you open two Libraries created by different models at the same time, which tools are displayed in the Results Explorer?
The answer is that the tools you see in the Results Explorer are based on the Active Project. For example, when the Active Project is a "Sample Sales" Project the Results Explorer only shows the Charts tool. But when the Active Project is an "ST-Sim" Project the Results Explorer also shows Maps and Export.
Setting the Active Project
When you open a Library the Active Project is set to the first Project in that Library. However, if you click on another Project in that Library (or in any another open Library) the Active Project will be changed to that Project and the tools displayed in the Results Explorer will be updated for the current model type. In fact, even if you click on a child node of another Project the Active Project will be set to the parent Project for that node.
The image above shows the Library Explorer with two open Libraries. The Active Project is the "Definitions" Project in the Library named "Adding spatial dynamics to ST-Sim". You can tell that it is the Active Project because it is bold. And because it is an "ST-Sim" Project, the Results Explorer shows the tools available to ST-Sim:
If you were to click on the "Definitions" Project for the "Sample Sales" Library (or any of that Project's child nodes), the Active Project would change and the Results Explorer would be updated to show only the tools that the Sample Sales model supports:
Changing the Active Project also affects the Results drop-down in the Main Window Toolbar.
The image above shows the Results drop-down when Result Scenarios have been added from two different Projects. Note that each Project now has its own top-level menu item with a single child menu where you can select, deselect, and remove Result Scenarios.
